Busy Days

Well, it's been very busy here at the Funny Farm this past week. I didn't even have time to visit Lisa at Tail Waggin' and missed her and the doggys terribly. Between planning for a Cub Scout Pack meeting, Ash Wednesday and then First Communion classes, a school restaurant fundraiser, and cleaning to host Bunko my life was a little crazy. We did manage to take the dogs to the dog park a few times which they of course loved. Now every time we go to leave Badger gets so excited and wants to come with. He has made great progress in the car. He no longer bites, claws, and barks at the window at the cars.

Yesterday Josh and I decided to get some hoops in since it was so nice out and I thought I'd tie Badger to the basketball hoop to see what the front yard is all about. Well, you guessed it...he broke the wire off and caught up to the passing car. Our hearts stopped as I'm screaming at the top of my lungs. The good news is he didn't get hit. He actually ran up next to the car and shied away probably realizing the size difference. The bad news was he was free and he new it. It only took Joshua and I a few minutes of chasing him across a few yards to finally trap and catch him. This did put a little crimp in our basketball game. More for me since I lost 16 to 21.

Mr. FF is off to the dog park now since his back is still messed up and can't walk 3 big dogs. Badger loves the dog park and sometimes goes off on his own to check things out but then has to know where his pack is and comes running back. He also has been ignoring the cars that drive up so that is huge. Only once did he chase one along the fence line but then ran back to the pack.

He is such a loving dog. He comes in and wakes me up every morning which is a good thing. He flops down on the bed waiting for a little scratch. Shhh, if Mr. FF finds out he will be very upset. I eventually get him off the bed but I like my snuggles too much to get him off right away...unless I hear Mr. FF coming down the hall. Then it's, "Badger, no, get off the bed." haha.

We are still working on the whole, "I really like to chase cats," thing. He doesn't understand why Pumpkin can lay on the breakfast bar and he can't. He's a smart one. He doesn't want to miss anything and knows Pumpkin has the right idea. So he's taught himself to jump onto his kennel and up onto the breakfast bar. We are working on it between the spray bottle and the remote trainer. I want to say that Catahoula's like to climb. I could be wrong but I thought I read that somewhere.

Well, enjoy the nice weather and thanks for thinking rescue. All this guy needs is a training class and a loving home and he'll be the perfect family dog. Cats, kids, and even another dog will work for him. He's still a puppy and a smart one at that.
