Welcome Badger!!!

"What is this thing? You definitely don't smell like a dog," thinks Badger. He is pretty determined to find out more about these things that can jump high and run fast. This one isn't afraid of him. Pumpkin is his name and he was sitting on the railing just chill'n and looking out over his territory. Badger jumped up for a sniff and Pumpkin reminded him gently by placing his paw ever so gently on Badger's nose that "the people" don't like it when dogs jump up. Badger said, "Thank you for the reminder. I have short term memory loss and will need to be reminded in five minutes again." Pumpkin rolled his eyes and strutted away.

Badger is settling in nicely however. He still wants to chase cars though. We will continue to work with him on that. He will get plenty of exercise here at the Funny Farm as long as the roads aren't ice covered. Plus we are planning on taking a trip to the dog park this week. Kinsey wants to run with him so bad but only outside. Inside she has started to become a "diva." I think she is testing him. She will grab a bone and bark and whine at Badger, who is kind of confused as am I. Does she want to chew on the bone together like her and Copper do sometimes or play tug or is she telling him it's her bone and he better stay away. Badger and I kind of look at each other and roll our eyes at the same time and sigh, "girls."

I will try and capture some more pictures of Badger to post tomorrow and let you know his progress. He has passed rule number one with flying colors I'll have you know. No going number one or two for that matter in the house. He's potty trained!!! We are working on rule number two...letting Mrs. FF(funny farm aka me) get her sleep. Of course it doesn't help when Mr. FF gets up at 4am and wakes the entire household. They did go for a walk and Mr. FF said Badger did pretty good. It was pretty slippery so it was a short walk. I just heard him tell Badger they will go again this afternoon.

So, if you have a fenced in yard or you love to walk or run this guy would be perfect. We are working on the cat thing. He doesn't bite them, just wants to know what they are.

Thank you for thinking rescue. We always need foster homes to give lots of love too so keep that in mind. The more foster homes, the more dogs we can save.

  1. He's a lucky boy to get to the Schultz house! He looks really handsome in his pics too!
